Collared Pratincole Glareola pratincola (304)
(Rooivlerksprinkaanvoël)
Experiences with species

This is a bird I remember from early birding years, when we went with a guide to St. Lucia and he got quite excited at seeing the Pratincoles (Red Winged as they were in those days.) St. Lucia is still a good spot for them, as is Okavango, and in some summers Kruger Park. They have a white trailing edge to the wing, which is one of the distinguishing features from Black Winged Pratincoles.

Other names: Red-winged Pratincole / East African Pratincole
